As the core university for the region with the most advanced manufacturing industry cluster, the school actively works to further reinforce its research and educational capabilities and to become international through various partnership projects in order to promote exchanges with the world. Having produced six Nobel Award winners in chemistry and physics, it boasts strong research capabilities.

Leveraging the distinctive feature that all its undergraduate and graduate schools are located on a single campus for both education and research, the school offers an education focused on training advanced experts, conducts high quality research through its education foundation, and strives to achieve internationalization rooted in the region. As Gifu University’s general research hub for manufacturing, the school established the Center for Advanced Smart Die Engineering Technology, conducts research related to dies and in peripheral fields, offers an integrated practical education related to manufacturing in addition to promoting regional revitalization by strengthening its research capabilities based on its history of production technology development in the field of dies

In addition to contributing to the development of the region through education and research, the school is moving forward with two-way partnerships with the local community. Particularly for research activities, the school is expanding diverse original applied research and basic research and working to tackle general academic and emerging, international research topics while passing on and developing unique fields.

Through a network of both domestic and overseas universities, research institutes, industries, governments, and financial institutions, the school aims to create innovation and train global leaders as an engineering university by connecting people, knowledge, and technology, envisioning making people happy through the value of new technology, and establishing a hub for communication to the world.

To train highly specialized engineers and researchers, the school accepts students from technical schools and focuses on developing human resources who possess outstanding technology development capabilities. The school also works to establish a hub for industry-academia partnerships and promote collaboration with local industries through joint-research with companies and other activities.
